Black Canyon Basics
Weather

Rest assured that our team is closely monitoring the weather conditions and river levels. We have a contingency plan in place to ensure a smooth and safe event for everyone regardless of the forecast. Your safety is our top priority, and we're well-prepared to handle any challenges that may arise. We will continue to keep a close eye on the situation, and any necessary adjustments to the course will be communicated directly to you via email and on our social media channels.

Runners should plan on a cold race morning. Wear layers at the start and plan to utilize our Black Canyon 'warm up' bags. Runners can discard their layers or additional blankets into these bags and we'll transport them to the finish line. Keep an eye on the weather and plan accordingly!

"What about my wave?"

We will send notification to all runners and add a link to the website for runners to check their assigned wave before race day.

Note that we do our best to honor a runner's requested wave but can not guarantee everyone's first choice.

Shuttles & Parking

With the amount of participation we have reached out to the community of Spring Valley for additional parking at local businesses for the start of the races. However, this does not mean parking at the start line will accommodate everyone so please plan ahead. Parking is limited! We HIGHLY recommend all runners take the shuttle to the start line and for crews and family who wish to watch the start, please review the map below for all parking options.

  • Do not park on the main Spring Valley Road.
  • Additional parking at Spring Valley Pharmacy
  • Additional parking at the LDS Church

Still need a shuttle ticket? Click HERE!  Shuttle tickets are available at the expo.

Runners taking the shuttle from Anthem please note that the Outlets at Anthem will have restroom facilities open to runners and crews throughout the day.

Crews taking shuttles from Anthem to the finish line at Emery Henderson, buses will start loading at 1pm on Saturday from the Anthem Outlets. Please check the Crew guide for directions and highlighted parking.

Locals Recommend

For runners and crews visiting Black Canyon City for the first time, here are some local spots recommended by locals.

Give Back To The Trail
Runners can contribute to the maintenance and expansion of the Black Canyon trail by supporting the Black Canyon Trail Coalition. These volunteers are  responsible for the growth, maintenance and promotion of the Black Canyon National Recreation Trail.

Runners can support their efforts by purchasing a Black Canyon Trail Map. If you purchased a Black Canyon Trail Map this year with registration you can pick up your map at the Black Canyon Expo. One hundred percent of map sales goes directly to the Black Canyon Trail Coalition.

You can also thank them for their contributions to the trails at Black Canyon City & Kay Mine aid station where BCTC volunteering will be supporting the race!
