I can't believe the final race of our Moonrise Summer MTB Series is already here! It's been a great summer and we've had a ton of fun putting together this series for the first time. Thank you for being flexible with us as we navigated these first year events & we hope to continue to improve the experience for everyone next year!

The final race, Last Quarter Crusher, will be held on Friday, August 19th at Palmer Park. This course is a fun, technical loop course that will equal ~12 miles of riding. This is a mix of rocky ascending and descending with some very technical spots. Riders complete one loop before returning to the start/finish for post-race celebrations.

Temperatures are looking to be in the high 70s! There is a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon so we will be keeping an eye on the weather and will let you know any updates as soon as we can.

We will have a full aid station at the start/finish area with traditional aid station fare and a special treat of grilled cheese and quesadillas for finishers! There will be a self serve hydration station in the Paseo parking area (~mile 7) with water/Tailwind. We are a cupless race! Please bring a water bottle or collapsible cup for hydration.

Please read all information below prior to race day.

We look forward to seeing you at Last Quarter Crusher!

Please stop by registration upon arrival to Palmer Park prior to starting the course. Adult solo riders you MUST check-in before starting the course. Junior and duo riders will have a mass start.

Course

Please review the updated course map on our website here.
Trails: Start– Greencrest– Little Moab– Palmer Point– Grandview– Mesa– Yucca– Mesa– Templeton– Mesa– Yucca– Templeton– Greencrest– Palmer Point– Grandview– Kinnickinnick– Finish

Please familiarize yourself with the course prior to riding. The course will be marked on Thursday evening. You are welcome to pre-ride on Friday morning any time before 3pm. Please do not cross any timing mats with your race bib after 3pm unless you are actively racing.

This is the most difficult of our three races this summer. Please only ride features that you are comfortable with or that you have ridden before. There is NO shame in the walking game if you decide to walk a feature! In fact, you might even shave some time off that way!

I would also encourage all riders to have the course downloaded on a device that you will carry with you. We will do our best to provide the best marked course possible, but we have encountered issues in Palmer Park before with neighbors pulling course markers. If you reach an intersection that you do not see a directional arrow or flagging, please consult your device rather than get lost!
Relays

The relay transition area will be located at the start/finish area and will be clearly marked with signage and cones. Rider 1 must cross the finish mat and high five, fist bump, belly bump, etc. Rider 2 before the next team rider heads out on the loop.  Relay riders must wait in the designated transition area. Do not cross timing mats before Rider 1 is finished with their loop even to warmup. Each relay rider will have their own timing chip. There will be no need to trade off race plates or timing chips.
Course Markings

The race courses will be well marked using orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots. Trail junctions and turns will be well marked with BLUE laminated signs. Please pay attention to these signs at each junction to stay on course.

In addition, blue & white checkerboard plastic flagging will be hung to designate non-race or “WRONG WAY” trails. All riders are responsible for understanding the layout of the courses. Please familiarize yourself with the course maps on our website prior to race day and/or print a map to bring along with you.
Road Crossings

There are two road crossings on course and one small section on the paved road. Please use caution and look both ways before crossing any junctions. While this is a race, roads are open to traffic so PLEASE yield to cars.
Beer Garden/Finisher Food

Plan some time in your night to hang out with us after your race to visit the beer garden generously donated by Fossil Craft Beer Company benefitting Kids on Bikes and grab some finish line refreshments from our aid station including grilled cheese and quesadillas!
Dogs

Dogs! We love dogs. If you choose to bring your dog, please make sure they are on a leash and under control at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the aid station at any time.
Safety/Trail Etiquette

Helmets required. Please be respective of other participants. While this is a race, we want to ensure all riders have a good time. Be sure to announce yourself when passing and give the rider in front time and room to move over. Bike lights are recommended if you are unsure of your lap time, but not required.

NO headphones allowed.
NO Ebikes allowed.
Medical

We will have on-site medical support from EMS Solutions. Should an incident occur on course please report it to the nearest course marshal or aid station location so that we can deploy our team.
Race Swag

If you registered before July 18th, you will receive a Last Quarter Crusher Koozie as your racer goody courtesy of our presenting sponsor SRAM. We cannot guarantee a Koozie if you registered after that due to ordering deadlines, but stop by and see us after in case there are extras!

The first 24 riders to pickup their packet will also get a water bottle thanks to our partner My Wicked Dude.
